Grandma (Mary) Stephenson, as she was familiarly known, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Foster on Harrison Street. She was born in Tennessee Feb 15, 1809. She was the mother of 9 children, four of whom are still living, being Mrs. George Foster, Mrs. Mary Scott, Mrs. America Hoffa and James Stephenson. She had been a member of the United Brethren Church ever since a small child. She was loved by all who knew her and always had a kind word for everyone. The funeral occurred Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence on Harrison Street, conducted by Dr. Leech of the First ME Church – transcribed by kbz
